In the mid-1980s, I made a startling discovery—the foundational sales process used by most business-to-business sales forces was first documented in 1873 by John Henry Patterson, the founder of NCR. Despite the rapid evolution of technology and business strategies, many companies still rely on outdated techniques that originated in the 19th century.
